Hi

Have recently repointed my west facing (prevailing weather) wall and it all went well.

I'm not sure what to do with the dpc course though. It's slate but has come away with the old pointing in places (I've not raked it out).

It feels like a bad idea to point over it and create a moisture bridge. What's the done thing here?
Should I just repoint it with some waterproofed mortar?
Should I grind a slot above the slate and put some dpc material in and the point above and below ?

The existing mortar at the dpc is bad enough that I have to do something

Its not really a bridge, its a bit of mortar and common.

Chase it out about 20mm. not too strong a mix - 4 or 5:1.
