Residence 9 windows - Fair price

Just got a quote for of £14,500 for 17 R9 white flush casement windows -

Based on what I think the windows cost, it looks like I'm being charged about £350 fitting per window!!!

Looks quite reasonable £350 per window if thats allin.

Surveying, Complying with regs, Dealing with suppliers, Guarantees, Fensa etc
The more expensive a product is the more risk there is with all of the above.

I'm pretty much a 1 man band with no overheads or workshop costs etc and thats pretty much what I charge on R9 so I would says its a pretty good quote.

Having said that its all about the quality of the fitting.

Unfortunately, that's not all in. It's what I've calculated fitting to be after paying for the windows. It works out at £826 per window on average to supply and fit. For all the windows there are 44 panes in total and the cost per pane would be £331. (not sure if I should be working it out like this??).

I've had 3 windows done already as the wife was nagging me to get a room done at the end of our house. For three windows measuring 1700x1000 we paid £2300 or £766 per window. So, for 9 panes (3 windows x 3 panes in each) that works out to be £255. Using the average cost per pane here that would mean a total cost of 44 (panes) x £255 = £11,244.

So (14,500 - 11,244)/17 =£191 extra per window than what I thought.

Do fitters charge more for fitting anything above ground floor level due to access etc.? That may be a reason as 10 windows are on the first floor.

Being on the 1st floor wont make any difference to price.
Number of panes, number of openers, specification, Toughened glass requirments and square meterage are the main things.

Also how long since you had the last ones done, There have been several price rises this year alone (glass, frames, transport, regulations and overheads).
Its also possible the first windows they did for you were tougher than they had expected the first time around so they may have allowed for that in the new prices
