I have lifted carpet from hall and diningroom to reveal block parquet flooring in very good condition (after 32years being under carpet). Unfortunately the carpet layers nailed gripper rod around the edge and in taking this up the blocks are cracking/breaking. The floor-layer I am employimng says he will try to repair with cork etc but it may not look very good. I am wndering if something could be used as a narrow "edge" - maybe something contrasting - or has anyone got any other ideas?

Perhaps try with flat (wider) Oak beading? Only works of the gap isn't that wide, but gives a neat finish
