When using 4inch blocks to return a wall over cavity around windows or doorframes should I use 6inch or 9" DPC? Where should the DPC lap back? i.e. should it lap back on both sides for example back into the door frame?

well, budget is limited, vertical DPC it is am afraid. It's on 7/8 quid a roll. do you know if I should lap it back between door/window frame and blockwork on reveal?

You only need to use DPC as thick as the reveal block ie 100mm

The idea is that it forms a DPC between the internal wall, and back of the external wall. Nothing else. There is no need for it to project and be lapped anywhere.

But many people leave some showing, in which case it is normally bent towards the external face, but it really does not matter which.

As woody said 4 is fine but put a strip of insulation in there too!
