What ho one and all,
I have a Mazda3, 2015 hatchback with a factory dash mounted screen. It does not have a reversing camera and I would like to fit one. Transpires, all the wiring is in place, just no factory fitted camera.
A standard ebay item is this;
it comes with an additional harness with two tails (6v and video) and replaces the number plate light. Fitted, it works as a plug'nplay but the viewing angle is terrible. It's a 6v and I believe, CVBS camera. Select reverse and the screen automatically switches to the camera, so the trigger wire must be incorporated.
So I have bought another camera, fisheye view (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D47C6CGH?ref_=pe_112168041_1111392281_t_fed_asin_title) which will allow me to adjust the view. 12v, AHD (but one of the wires can be cut to get CBVS) It will be powered from the reversing light.
When connected, the screen shows nothing, probably because the trigger on this camera, (12v but perhaps not?) wire is not connected to anything. Given that the harness switches to the first camera automatically, presumably the harness has a trigger installed. But of the two tails (6v and video) which do I connect to and if the trigger is 12v, will something blow when 12v is connected to a 6v socket?
Many thanks
Rex
