Need to replace cable on upright vax[u60] which has become damaged, one of the retaining screws is a torx head security screw [hole in centre of blade] anyone happen to know what size driver I need, have a set or security bits but not enough room to get them in so has to be a single driver of the correct size to release .

Use a spanner that fits the hex on the security bit to make a right angled screwdriver.

I think he means its down a recess and therefore the diameter of the hex bit is the problem?

Stick some blu-tac down the hole on the end of an ordinary screwdriver and take a 'print' of the torx head which you can then compare to your bit set and buy the correct individual screwdriver.

As a rough guess it will be TT20 or TT25 I would imagine.

Gaz :)

RSgas is correct, usual recessed screws, the recess may be too deep to get an impression on blu-tac.

Managed to remove the screw [found a set of screw removers ]but still can't get into this model anyone know if there are clips or is brute force required.

I've only worked on one Vax upright, and one screw for the sole plate was under the stuck on model identification plate. It was also necessary to take the wheels off, I found.
Sorry, don't know the model but it had one motor to do the sucking, and another to spin the bristle brush.
John :)

Figured it out had to dismantle the entire motor housing to get at the cable , works fine now.
