I have some questions for the following work:

    1. New fuse board
    2. New electrical sockets (4 x double-sockets per room in 4 rooms)
    3. New wiring for lights
    4. New light switches
    5. Two lengths of Cat-6 in living room + 3 bedrooms
    6. Extractor fan in bathroom
    7. Power and lighting in loft
    8. Power and lighting in attached garage
    9. Security lighting front and back of property
    10. Smoke and CO sensors
    11. External power sockets

What would typical costs be for the above (just a ballpark figure to nearest thousand pounds), how long would it take and would the electrician lift up floorboards and loft materials as required to do the job or would I have to have all the floorboards in the house lifted up prior to the job commencing?

About the same as a second hand car.

It would take between one and 5 weeks.

The electrician will lift all the floorboards he requires if you pay him to. If you lift them then he will not have to.

So, one electrical contractor reckons it takes two weeks to rewire a 3-bed semi. Another can do it in 3-4 days.

Suppose it either depends on the man power thrown at it or another way of looking at it is how rough you can slap it in. Ask the 3/4 day guy if he is willing to work with a penalty clause?
