rewiring antique lamp two switches

I just bought a yard sale lamp that needs to be completely rewired. I know how to rewire a basic lamp. The lamp has a hole at the base for a second switch. What do I buy and mainly how is the second switch installed.

Very difficult without being able to see it.

What are you trying to achieve with a second switch? If you are looking at two way switching you will get an idea of the principle here. http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7553&start=0 It's buried in there somewhere! Also please remember that the information is all UK based.

Either way you must only install the switch in the "hot" side.
