RIP Robin Williams

Suicide is not selfish.
The only selfishness involved when suicide occurs is from the people left behind generally. All they care about is how they feel.

They don't seem to give a monkeys c*ck about the person involved being finally freed from their demons.

The genuinely suicidal person can't be selfish as they aren't thinking about themselves or the people left behind. Neither. The only thought being ending the torture.

When my girlfriend sadly killed herself, some years ago, it was truly devastating for me, but I never once, not even for a second, thought of her as selfish. In a strange way I was happy for her. Having suffered depression for years she was finally at peace.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Not sure if this is directed to me in particular but twas me who mentioned 'selfish'.

What I actually said was the act of suicide was selfish not the person as they were probably not sound of mind.

I stand by that statement as I too had a friend commit suicide, he hung himself at home. His daughter(7y/o) found him first. 10 years on and she has issues of her own, brought on by her father's suicide and finding his body hanging at the top of the landing. That is what I mean by selfish.

The people that find the body are innocent but could be affected for life. Like the innocent train driver, the innocent motorist, the innocent dog walker etc.

Doing it in a selfish way doesnt make it an inherently selfish act.

Does it not?

Does it not?

Is that your entire argument?

Unlike you I don't argue for the sake of it. I put my opinion across and I read the opinions of others, that's it. Their opinion is just as valid as mine, it maybe the same, similar or totally different but it's theirs.

I don't feel the need to argue. Probably not a 'tanalising' option to you.

Another report also mentions that he was in the early stages of Parkinsons.

This may be why he decided to end it sooner than have all the trouble later.

Yeah, just try being a kid who's Mum has killed herself eh?
