Hi Guys

I was in my loft and i saw that there is a section - one corner where the battens seem to crumble and have broken. The tiles are resting on the plastic material.

Any ideas what i need to do for a fix? Can i put a peice of wood from inside the loft for support?

I was told that i need to rebatten my corners eg 1 rafter worth and 3/4 high from bottom - but dont know who to trust, any ideas?

Back then un treated batten was common.

If the battens are rotting then it's likely water ingress.

Cracked verge maybe
Loose hips or ridge
Wrongly gauged battens

hi

thanks for reply

what can i do about this, any ideas?

is it an expensive fix or can a diy job be ok?

may i ask what is the purpose of treated vs untreated batten?

Tested resist rot and insect attack..simple as that.

What can you do about it.. first find out what the cause is.
