I have just moved into a 1950 Semi and would like to increase the insulation in the roof before winter.
Eventually we would like to convert the loft into another so i would prefer to insulate right from the word go!!
To do this I'm going to have to insulate the rafters which are only 70mm thick , I understand as the title have been felted on the back an air gap of 50mm needs to left between the felt and insulation leaving only 20mm depth.
My Question is do i buy 20mm insulation broads for between the rafters then put 90mm over the top or do i buy 110mm to start with and do it all over the top?
Also it states you should put batters over the broad between the plaster broad should these be in-line / on top of the rafters after the insulation has been installed
