Roof options

The utility room I presume was a garage originally?
The original garage was situated behind the rear line of the house and demolished and replaced by the utility 20+ years ago.

There is currently external doors between the utility and the conny and the dining room and the conny. The door to the old kitchen was removed when the conservatory was built.

Ideally you need it surveying,

Dig down next to one of the conservatory walls and see how deep the footings are, that will then give you an idea on the suitability of the wall for a roof.

In essence though I imagine the current glass and aluminium roof is rather weighty so it may be ok.

Be prepared to budget for steels,

Would agree normally, but everything else was perfect and we knew we would be sorting the conservatory out pretty quickly. It was an eyes wide open purchase

If the walls are strong with adequate footings then a warm roof is possible, with lantern you may get away with joists tripled up but steels are preferred, good luck.
