roof paint (sealent)

Did not know what section to put this in but thought I would get most input in here. Has anyone ever used this roof sealent paint.

Had a quote just off a guy who knocked on door and he wanted £2400 my roof, looked up paint and it £54 a tub so could save a fortune.

what is this for? is it a sealant for over tiles/slates or for a flat roof?

If its for a flat roof it sounds like a bodge and if its for slates/tiles it sounds unnecessary unless its shady and you have a real moss problem.

Why was this fella just knocking on your door. You could nearly get a new roof for that price. Is your roof leaking? If not, then it don't need sealing....did this fella tie his horse to your fence.... Yeeeeehaaaa!

Roof is not leaking, I have just been looking at this stuff to do myself strictly for cosmetic purposdes and conincendental a man knock on my door. I was no way going to go with him but thought I ask on here if its worth doing yourself.

I have seen people do it to an artificial slate roof to tart it up in preparation to sell and it did look a little better.

That said you obviously have to scrape and clean it well before doing it and when doing work like that on a roof you may end up with extra headaches like cracked slates loosened ridge tiles etc caused by all the clambering around.
