Room thermostat to save money on heating?

Hi all,

After posting on here a few weeks ago I bought a wireless room thermostat as our current system only has a boiler stat with timer - we're getting it fitted shortly.

However, I wanted to ask whether we are likely to save money with a room stat, and if so would the savings be significant - my girlfriend doesn't believe that they will be whereas I think they will. Any reasons for or against would be greatly appreciated, moreso if they back me up lol!

assuming you have times the same a room stat will save you money as it will (if fitted properly) shut boiler off when set temp is reached. You may even find its more comfortable as it shouldn't just keep running till the timer shuts it off

How does the boiler stat work - is it on temp of water in the pipes?

Before getting room thermostat fitted I've been monitoring our gas usage, and it's coming out at around 50kwh per day - is this excessive, or am I just being a tight get?
