We took up the flooring on a house we've recently moved into (5 different layers of laminate and lino!) to find the floorboards and joists pretty rotten in places. We're going to replace all the joists and wall plates on top of the sleeper walls, but try and keep as many of the old floorboards as possible.
At one end, the joists aren't supported by a wall (looks like there might've been a non-structural wall there at some point that was taken down and the joists left hanging. They feel fairly rigid, but looking for some advice on whether I should build a small wall up underneath for them to sit on? Interestingly there's now a stud wall on top of where the old brick wall that was taken down used to be, so that might need more support?
Ventilation is another issue as this room is completely internal with no exterior walls to put air bricks in. I was considering putting a few vents in the floors in the corner of the room to help, any idea if that will cause any issues?
