Hi I've been reading these forums for months but only just took the plunge and registered.

I have been trying to sand the walls in my hall to repaint, the walls are a littler rough and I have been polyfilling the corners sanding etc to make them look better before I paint.

Am I better cutting my losses and getting the walls reskimmed on top of the existing paint work or am I doing the right thing to sand the bad bits. Its not too bad but it is not as flat as it could be.

Your help is appreciated. Thanks,

Once you have done all the filling would you consider lining the walls?

yes I would I never thought of that, is it easy to do ??

Does that make the walls perfectly smooth ??

is that the only suggestion ?? i take it that is easier than skimming.

I have never papered before and we dont have any wallpaper in our house so i have never tried.

It doesnt work miracle but it will help hide even surfaces etc and gives the paint a nice base too

Skimming will give you a better job...only if you get a pro plasterer in...dont attempt it yourself.

Use a 1000 grade lining paper, plenty on paste, keep the face of the paper free from paste and youll be fine.
