If it has been recently installed, then YES.

It was not a requirement of the 16th edition, but it is now.
 
that is the problem. if one of the conditions quoted is not satisfied then the circuit will need to be rcd protected and yes that includes switch wires buried in the wall under the 17th regs
 
Thats precisely what I am coming back to this thread for.

It says that on page 80 of the current electricians guide & I was going to ask
is that basically saying, that if the above protection cannot be given then its OK as long as it is behind an RCD ??


(BTW, whats the difference between a RCCB & a RCD ?)
 
House is six(?) years old so does that mean it is safe

but in a new house it would not be !

I think I would prefer to risk what we have rather than have someone fall downstairs when a nuisance trip on the RCD puts all the lights out!
