Roy Hodgson for the England job?

Hodgson has accepted the hounour. A few months down the line he will have to accept defeat like all the managers before him.

Hodgson is Mr mediocrity, always was, always will be. He likes to try to lower the fans expectations so that they'll accept second best, he's got a job on his hands to try that with some of the idiots who support England.

The real problem is the plonkers who pick the likes of him.wally with the brolley and the itialian guy....the FA should be run by ex pro,s who know all about the game not some ex-post office guy,ex major and lord such and such

Hodgson was voted LMA manager of the year while at Fulham ( by the biggest margin of votes ever, apparently)

Like timbo said it doesn't matter much who the manager is, we'll most likely be cr*p.
But at least they could give someone a go who might be able to raise some excitement.
You can't really blame the fa though with the press in this country, can't wait for a bit of juicy scandal, which is a hell of a lot more likely with flash harry than mr mogadon.

and??

Just making the point that he is well respected among other managers, and perhaps this is what swung it as the FA 'sounded' them out. Not sure if they would agree he is mediocre as any manager or player I have heard speaks highly of him; although apparently the Liverpool players didn't seem to like his way of coaching, too technical for them ?

This high regard at that level of the game is probably more of a factor than what the Liverpool fans thought of him.

Have Scotland still got a national team ?
Or have they finally given up and disbanded ?

I think this is what swings the balance in woy's favour, no question.
Woy wasn't up to it at Liverpool, just as he wouldn't be up to it at Utd or Arsenal or any club with high expectations. They don't come much higher than those that go with the England job. Woy will be telling us all that a draw with Estonia at home would be an acceptable result because of the high level of technical ability that all international players have these days...or some such sh*te.

No England manager can succeed. Take a look at a Premiership club and all the strikers and play-makers are foreign. That means the England manager has to pick a team from the rabble that run around like idiots and tackle all over the shop. The same type of player that is useless against skilled opposition and gets sent off for careless tackling in international football.

Woy and Wooney won't win.

Also, about 34% of the PL are English as a result of poor coaching and over priced youngsters.

Take out those who are a bit too old, or not quite good enough and it is not a large pool of players to pick from.

England fans need to lower expectations

The population of Scotland is less than that of London. When it come time to having a go on the pitch, at least the Scottish team gets on with it instead of blaming the weather, the manager, the hose pipe ban, picture on page 3 of the Sun or whatever comes to mind.

I am not a football guru but it was edge of the seat stuff to see young MCFC players run rings around Rooney and his squad, the squad that will supply the players for England team. What is needed is hunger and pride. That is what gets you there. Manager can only manage, it is the players that put the ball past the keeper. If they walk about on the pitch like Rooney was last night, Hodgson has a mountain to climb. Good luck to him 8)

Why do they need their own parliament then?

Loads of experts here saying who will fail.
Who WOULD do the job? With the resources or lack of them? How and why?
