The plumber needed to route an underfloor heating pipe.
The main contractor seems to think it’s ok to cut the steel in this way steel size 203 uc x UC 46 . He says most steels are cut like this when notching and connecting one beam to another, so it should be fine.
The steel that’s been cut still has the bottom flange intact. It sits into another steel by around 110 mm, with the bottom flange bearing within the supporting steel.
I’m looking for advice on whether this needs to be passed on to the structural engineer
