Hi All
I am breaking through between the old external wall and the new extension and have the lintel calculations done (203 x 203 x 46 UC). It is a 4.2metre opening and concrete block double skin construction.
Ideally I would support the ceiling joists on the bottom flange of the Lintel as this would enable me to get it higher. Can anyone advise whether this is standard/acceptable practice because of the relatively low weight of the upstairs floor or are you going to advise me to go back to the structural engineer?
Thanks for any help and for all the amazing advice you all give on here!
Chris
