Hi.

We have had taken down the lean to room at my mate's house ( was a kitchen, moved to new location ), all it left is a gap of 2.4 metres and we are going to put in a patio double doors, there is two RSJ supporting upper floor and wall, inner wall and outer wall, what can we do to cover up RSJ with? pvc claddings? brickwork? Plywood?

Any advice would be great.

Cheers, Dan.

Plastic cladding will be ok to cover the beams but may look a bit naff, but i guess your choices are limited.

It may also be possible to use timber noggins and eml with a rendered finish, this may look ok - ish.

You can either insert some [cut] brick soldiers to form a nice soldier arch or fit some brick slips on a suitable backing board such as Masterboard.

If done properly, either of these will hide the beam and look nice and natural
