my house has a single storey extension. The living room spans in to the extended part with an opening in the original rear wall of the house which is about 3m wide.
The building control drawings for the extension state that there is an RSJ for the inner leaf of brickwork, with a welded plate on it to support the outer leaf.
We would like to install internal bifold doors into the opening. At 3m span, the doors we are interested in are too mounted, they they in effect hang from a frame which is mounted above. They weigh 138kg
Is it acceptable to fix them to the RSJ? (Probably drilling and bolting in to the flange).
