Hi everyone.

Not sure where this post should really go so I'll out it here for the time being!

I was looking at the wall of my bedroom the the other day and it looks like some light brown-ish water or other liquid has been running down it from where it meets the ceiling. It doesn't fell wet so maybe it hasn't happened for some time. It's an external wall and all the water containing apparatus in the loft is on the other side of the house.

Has anyone got any idea of what it could be? Confuses me...

Cheers!

Dackers.

The phantom ****ing plumber  ..........cover them with stain block when you decorate ..........oh yeah, is there a chimney outside where the marks are?

I had the same problem. Turned out it was the roofing felt (under the slates) had failed (or was damaged) in one area and water was getting into the loft. The water was running along the top of the bedrrom ceiling until it pooled at the wall. That's where it came through.

The top of the ceiling is only about half way up the external wall to the apex of the roof so it can't be a roof/felt/slate thing. Actually, I did notice a crack running along the external wall so that might be it even though the surveyor said the it wasn't big enough to have caused a problem!

Not sure if i've read your post properly but it sounds like it could be just condensation forming somewhere and running down the wall. Is part of the ceiling sloping? If so the condensation may form on here when the weathers cold (especially if there's no insulation behind it) and then run down the wall.

Its probably a bit brown due to picking up dirt of the ceiling / wall
