Hi,

I want to run from the main CU to a shed and need some practical advice. The CU is an old style cartridge fuse baox.

I am ordering a garage CU with RCD, 32A & 6A breakers for lighting and sockets.

Can I run from the spare way on main consumer unit ? If so, is 40A breaker sufficient ? Is there a better way to do this ?

Thanks

You can run from the spare way in the CU yes................but are you aware of part P?

40A breaker? No good if you have a cartdrige fusebox.

The breaker rating at the CU end would be dependent on the cable size you are running to the shed and the installation method used.

6A breaker in the garage/shed CU sounds ok for lighting but 32A breaker would be used to protect a ringcircuit or a 4mm radial. Highly unlikelly you need this for your shed.
