Unless the Rusholme in the 80s that i visited every week was different to the one he went to...
There were way than a couple of dozen eateries, there were bakeries, takeaways, clothes shops, groceries, financial institutions, travel agents, a whole high street with a variety of shops, but there was, of course, an emphasis on food.
There have been changes on every High Street in the country, as there have been in Rusholme.
But these shops, in the main, are still there.
As for the signage, it was always brightly lit.
