I've bled the system dry several times now and replaced the emersion tank and powerhead for the motorized valve but I'm still getting a rushing noise (quite loud) at the pump when the hot water is on, but not when the heating is on... any help much appreciated.

Have you tried bleeding the pump at the screw in the middle?.
