hello,

I have a 55 plate 1.9 saab 93. Recently i noticed my car engine had a slight "shake" as if it is mis-firing but a few days ago things went from bad to worse.

At start up there is alot of black smoke and total loss of power, nothing happens if i press the accelerator and the engine seems as if its going to cut out. But after for about 2 minutes the smoke clears and power returns (but not as it should). another thing i noticed is if i accelerate in neutral i hear a hiss as if the turbo is leaking air from somewhere.

I'll appreciate any suggestions. Thanks guys

Sounds like a possible disconnected/holed inter-cooler hose. if it is this the smoke is from the engine over fueling and not getting the correct amount of air due to it being lost.get someone to rev the car for you whilst you have a look and try and see if can see the fault.

Yep, agreed...turbo pipe blown off. They are under substantial pressure on these engines, and its a regular occurrence.
John :)
