Hello i am having a bit of trouble with my combi Sabre boiler, it seems to be this time every year there is a problem. I have had the boiler for around 7 years now!

Last week i had lost hot water although the heating was working fine. Whenever i ran the hot water the boiler stopped! My friend who is a gasman, came round last night to have a look but the hot water was running as normal again. He said it may be a flow switch problem. After he left the boiler worked for an a hour or so then a still red light came on and locked me out of the boiler. I also seem to have a leak from my boiler, could this cause these problems? Is the red light due to needing new sensors ? And finally my pressure has always been bad since theboiler was installed, seems to always fall below 0.5 and i have to top it up majority of the time to 1 then when the heating is switched on it rises to just under 2.

As long as i can get even a short term fix for over winter that would great, as i think a new boiler will be on list of my things to get next year!

I think you need a better or more interested gasman!

The expansion vessel seems to be faulty or just needing repressurising.

The red light could be anything and without being at the boiler is difficult to guess about. Might be the pricy PCB.

You also have a leak. Usually a rad valve. Feel them all and see if any water on them.

More likely in your case to be a leaking pressure release valve caused by the faulty expansion vessel. It might need to be clicked and if that does not stop leak then replaced.

I can say all this without even seeing the boiler so your Gasman should be able to sort it out at the boiler very easily!

Thanks for the reply, i will take a few pics tonight for a better idea, but as you said you cant exactly tell as you are not infront of the boiler.
