Good morning all.

New member here.

Working on a renovation and have one project I'm just not sure how to fix. My attached car port has a sagging ridge. Examining the rafters and joists show me a lot of lumber that has no sense to it. My first thought is to replace the ridge with a 2x6 and remove all the unnecessary lumber. It's a 12 foot span and everything looks fine except for the sag. Maybe run a couple braces from 2x6 joists up to support the center? I'll leave a couple of pictures and maybe someone has a lot better understanding of what to do here. I'm at a loss.

The cross braces are resting on the 2x4's strung together - and not resting on the 2x6 joists. Wierd. 2x6's look a little saggy also, so maybe that is why.

Any ideas?
