I have a client with a Salamander House pump which is situated above the hot outlet from the hot water cylinder. In this situation Salamander say you must fit an anti grvaity loop in the outlet before it rises to the pump inlet. Anyone know why or what this does.

The problem they are having is that after they switch off the taps or shower the pump pulses (referred to as Hunting) where the microswitch in the pump momentarily switches on/off/on etc. They also have a situation that is very close to a negative head situation because the attic shower head is not far below the bottom of the cold watrer tank. I can't check how far below because some idiot builders decided to seal it in a void above the ceiling.

I am thinking of installing the anti grvaity loop but I don't know if it will do anything to cure the above problem.

Thoughts appreciated.

The AG loop is to stop convection currents cooling your hot water down, and helps stop air settling in the distribution pipework.

Your hunting is often due to there being air in the pipe, which lets the water "bounce" to and fro.
