Salus thermostat kaput?

Salus thermostat just flashing with odd characters and not synching of course.
I've changed batteries, left batteries out for 15mins etc, no joy.
When replacing, do I have to replace the part on the boiler as well, or just the remote, wireless part?

If you’re replacing with a Salus of the same model, then just the thermostat and you might be able to bind up to existing. If you‘re going to replace with something completely different, then replace part in boiler too and would use a blanking plate. Opening up the cover on that boiler requires some safety checks afterwards.
