Salus Wireless thermostat replacement.

Sorry if this has been covered before.
Currently have a Salus rt510tx wireless thermostat with a Salus 605 RF receiver on my Baxi boiler.
Looking at changing the thermostat to the IT500.
I believe I can still use the same receiver.
Pairing the new one up looks easy enough.
May sound like stupid question, but what do I do with the old thermostat once it's paired to the new one. Will the new one simply override the old one. Ie the programs . Remove batteries on old one ?
Do I have to unpair the old one first.

Turn the power off to the boiler, remove the batteries from the old thermostat, turn power back to boiler put batteries in new thermostat and pair using the little button on the receiver
