Sand decorators caulk

We had a joiner fit some skirting to a new false chimney breast. He used caulk and smoothed with his finger leaving quite a raised line on the plaster (grr)

Will it sand? It's so frustrating as it's still easily smoothed off when applied!

Just worried I'll sand and make a mess..

It doesn't sand at all well, it gets messy.

Quicker to scrape off, and redo as necessary.

So easy to smooth out whilst still wet, as you say.
