sanding parquet panels

Hi All, We've recently moved house and acquired a hallway and 23 x 14 feet room with 5 finger parquet panels which require repairing. Main issue sun faded areas around patio doors, lesser issue wife wants a lighter colour. What equipment and method should I be looking at (belt sander, level of grit ect)
