so a country like the US can't get relief to it's own people in its own country? is that possible?

Why are we being asked to donate to the red cross etc?

I'm not saying it isnt a valid cause, but surely the US can get resources where they need to be?

I would imagine that it's because they need immediate help and the charities are probably better organised to give instant relief. Can you imagine our government trying to aid people after a major disaster, there would be at least a hundred meetings about it, then they would have to work out how they could make a few bob in the process.

I'm more than happy to donate to help the people of NY. After all I seem to have donated towards every other f****r in the world without being asked first.
