What do most plumbers do to ensure the WC and basin joints do not leak. Using the makers rubber seals invariably leak, so silicon is generally used, against the makers recommendations, to seal.

What do you guys do when installing showers, WCs, basins and baths? What experiences do you have?

I have never used silicone......for a basin waste i use a basin mate, conical rubber seal. Never had a toilet fixing leak that wasn't my fault. I have very occasionally used plumbers mate on old leaking fixings, but never on new ones

putty or sealant (clear type) under waste outlets (both sides) can help create a better seal or you can use a basin mate as previously said. sometimes the washers (plastic type) with the wastes do leak (especially the cheaper ones) so either buy a basin mate (about £1) or use sealant/putty.

What about wc connections? What is the real advantage of a MultiiKwik?
