The big sash window component companies supply replacement sash window pullies which have ball bearings in them.

Does having the ball bearings in the pulley make a discernible difference to ease of sash slide compared to a standard 1930s pulley with no ball bearings?

After time, wouldn't you get the 'sqweeeeeek' as you worked it open or close, with no bearings in the pulley?

Dust and time have it's affects, I guess.

Alfred Hitchcock's Rear Window wouldn't be the same with a squeaky window :)

There's no discernible squeak from my 1930s pullies. If there was, I'm sure this could easily be sorted with a squirt of WD40.
