PLEASE CAN SOMEBODY HELP JUST THIS AFTERNOON THE BOILER JUST STOPED WORKING JUST SHOWS 2 RED LIGHTS INDICATING TO RING COMPANY
IT LOOKS LIKE A NEW BOILER AS IVE ONLY MOVED IN 6 MONTHS AGO
WHEN I TURN IT TO FIRE NOTHING NO PILOT MAKES NOISE LIKE PUMP OR SOMETHING GOT TWO KIDS ITS GETTING COLD
IT USED TO MAKE NOISE WHEN WE SWITCH IT ON FROM COLD SOUNDS LIKE WHOOSH AND WHISTLING BEFORE EASING

Is this a combi? Check the pressure gauge is reading just above 1 Bar, if not top it up.

Failing that as it is new call in under warranty tomorrow morning.

JUST HAD PLUMBER HAVE A LOOK HE REAKONS ITS EITHER THE PUMP OR FAN THE SAD THING IS I DONT KNOW WHEN THE PREVIOUS OWNER PURCHASED IT OR WILL THE WARRANTY COVER ME IF IT IS UNDER WARRANTY

Turn your caps lock off!

Warranty's are transferable, but you will need evidence of date of installation, or if it is really only 6 months old give them the boiler serial number when you call it in.

Thema F23E is obsolete. Don't think its been sold for several years.

Standard efficiency and was being sold at least up to 2004 and perhaps later.

Been reading the last posts as I've been having terrible trouble with exactly the same model..The f23
It was installed brand new in August 2001
serviced in 2003 and 2004 as recommended, and then stopped working in March 2005, so a new gas value was fitted.
In March this year, it broke so we called the same guy out who said it was the gas value again. He put a reconditioned one in and supplied a one year warrenty with it.
In September it stopped working altogether for a couple of days and then as soon as the engineer attended, it worked fine again. Its since done it on a few odd occasions, and then this morning it started playing up again.
Its been not working all day, until about 20 mins ago when I tried it again and it sprang back to life.
It seems that I have the most temperamental boiler in London and I'm wondering if its about time I gave up and put a new system in (though not really got the money)
Any help or advice greatly appreciated please

Any boiler is repairable as long as parts are available.

Why have you not called your engineer back in again?

I have and he said that he couldn't come out till early next week. I then called out another company who promised to come round after 2pm and at 3.30pm I rang them to ask where they were and they apolgised and said sorry but they wouldn't be able to come round today after all!

AFAIK there are no reconditioned gas valves available; they are either new or secondhand, so I'm not sure what you had fitted.

As for the current problem have you checked the pressure on the gauge is between 1 and 1.5 bar. Otherwise it could be something as simple as a failed microswitch.

These boilers are notorious for leaking like sieves on the left hand side and SD have recently racked up the price of some of the parts. Any evidence of leaks and it may be worth considering replacement.

sorry, second hand value is what was fitted ealier this year.
Yep the gas presure is fine, already checked that thanks.

Last time when the gas value went we had no hot water or heating at all, where as now the problem is intermittent which makes me think that its possibly not the gas valve again...or could I be wrong?

After all, boilers isn't my remit !

When the engineer came round a few weeks ago and it was doing this, he didn't suggest that it could be anything else other than the valve....come to think of it, I don't think he even looked at it as it was working again....

I assume you mean the water pressure.

Gas valves on boilers are normally the most reliable components (I've never changed one on a SD yet).

I'm not sure if SD do a fixed price repair on a boiler this age but it may be worth considering especially for intermittent faults since they can throw parts at it.
