Hi,

Ive started fascia/guttering and am seeking some scaffold options.

Had a quote for my detached 4 bed @ 1800 quid for a month .

That included;

-Front back that is two storey working height
-Side that is 6m to a flat gable section
-Over apex garage

Sounded expensive to me.

Other options are a mitower, I can rent for a week at 200 odd, but my concern is how easy they are to get up and move about as I'll need to cover about three moves on the sides. Then I have the issue of how to deal with the garage section.

Has anyone else done similar work on your own?

Good price, it’s getting them not to use your house for storage that’s key. Scaffolding every time over towers, very stable

Or buy a second-hand tower, at a good price, then resell it after use, and maybe make a profit.

Not sure how a tower will help On a garage with pitched roof
This is my problem area, I may just get a quote for this side of the property. It's in the pictures (google maps crp sorry)

The apex starts 3/4 over the side of the house so a cherry may work and I could work on the tiles, not preferred though.

Hire for a platform for 19 days is 500 odd, on the rear of the property

Cherry is an option as I could deal with the garage side.

I dont see how you can possibly replace facia / soffit and guttering off a tower. 5M lengths !

I've only just done the back of my garage to learn how to do it.

Once you have it punched in with two pins it will be stable. Put an overhanging bit of soffit or fascia on box end side so it lines up.

Towers can take two people so I might rope in someone after a crate of beer lol.

Towers can take two people so I might rope
..and a rope, to avoid climbing up and down the tower too often.

A rope on a hook, on the end of a rafter, can take the small weight of the far end of a 5m section, whilst you fix the near end. Then just work your way along towards the rope, fixing it.

I own a scaffold tower and used it a lot but would not entertain using it to replace 5M lengths of facia and soffit. I have done it off scaffold and pop a temporary screw in one end of the m then go to the other end and another screw to get it levelled up - maybe adjust the first one and then when I am happy take the screws out and put in the polytops. But on a tower you are going to have to keep moving it along which is not that easy with out rigger stabilisers ect. Then a string line for the gutter brackets, I just dont see how you can do it off a tower.
£1800 dont know if that is good or not but you are still saving compared to getting someone in to do it all. Have you ever been up to gutter height on a tower - its a long way up there when you are there.

I have a ladder to manoeuvre on the opposite sides and it's only 9mm capping not full board. Also The soffit will be hollow board so T&G.

The platform is more to get above the gutter line and do the Eaves protectors and get the tiles pushed back.

Mitower two man is 1.6M Wide, i've got an 8m (ish) wide house.

Other option is I can clamp on the box ends.

Just been out to see how the works gone on my garage, eaves protectors work perfectly not a drip on the fascia so they will definately worth the effort.
