Scalpings or MOT Type 1?

What's best for a patio base. Am I right in thinking scalpings have larger stones in?

Reason I ask is my local 'brick yard' only see scalpings not MOT Type 1 and I like to support local business' but obviously want what's best for the job.

Its hard to know as so many regional varitions in whats what? What did they say it is?

Just be sure it isn't road scalpings/planings as that is no good.

I'm sure its not but ask him outright if its road planings (pronounced as in aeroplane)

If its a legit merchant they probably wouldn't be selling it though and simply tell him what its for and he can tell you what you need.
