Hi,

We have a Scantronic 9448ES home alarm system installed and recently experienced a power cut. Usually when this happens, the bell alarm will go off once the mains power is back on (the internal battery has drained out) and then the user code is input to reset the system.

This time however, when the mains power came back on, nothing with the alarm happened and now there is no power to the keypads (there is no green LED showing power) and the buttons are unresponsive. There is a slight green hue behind the keypad though so there is some power there. Also, the sensors still have power, as does the outside light which still flashes.

What do you guys think has happened in this situation, has the fuse in the FCU next to the control panel blown or could it be something else?

Any assistance would be appreciated. Cheers.

Panel battery possibly got severely discharged during the power cut, and when power came back on the system voltage is now to low due to trying to charge a faulty battery?.
Is the system regularly serviced?, do you know when the battery was last replaced?.
Hazarding guesses from the limited information.

The battery has not been changed for around 10 years. I need to check inside the control box.
Would removing the fuse from the FCU be sufficient to disable the alarm in order to open the panel box without setting off the tamper alarm? Or should I switch off the mains instead in order to check this.
