Hi All, I had a long installed I-on 160ex installed prob nearly 10 years ago, but wanting remote control from mobiles required me to migrate to a i-on G3MM.

There are two wired expanders + the main panel + 2 keypads all wired.

Swap from 160 to G3mm was just a swap of the main panel, expanders (and zones from them) and keypads stayed wired as is on the other end

Most of the time, alarm works as expected, if the alarm is not armed, the chime activates when set doors/windows opened. Monitoring on the panel shows resistance is good (4.7k/2.2k) for all zones setup.

Occasionally, the full alarm will activate (ie bells sounding) when disarmed. No errors on the panel or app. no indication of a tamper etc. Any ideas of where next to look short of removing each zone 1 at a time? (as above, all zones show correct resistance values when checking!)

Bell tamper?

Alarm unset, nothing in log, suggests a bell tamper and bell tamper not wired to panel or linked out so doesn’t report.

I'll double check the tamper side to make sure its connected - would it not still show as a tamper on the panel as bell though?

so nothing in the log would mean the bell is activating not from an alarm event.

Most bells self activate if the bell is tampered with.

But if the tamper is wired or linked out at the panel then it won’t register on the panel but may still self activate.

Just to update, both the external and internal sounder + keypad sound. Internal sounder hasnt got tamper set.
Played around with the chime setting and set a couple of them to double chime etc to try and pin down if it was a zone, a door contact seems to be the culprit, but as above, nothing in the log indicates what the issue is. The tamper/resistance shows its correct. Disabling this zone (which is on the main panel) seems to have stopped the alarm activating when unarmed. Will try and replace the contact but still confused as to why its not showing in the logs?

Are you saying the zone is chiming when activated?

That isn’t the same as alarm and can usually be turned on/off on most systems be pressing the chime button.

Chime events are not in the log and would work when system not armed

Disabling the zone means the zone wouldn’t chime.

Internal sounder not uncommon to have a door on chime, but external sounder is a lot less common to have a chime for when a zone is activated.

The back door is set to double chime when opened/closed which works as expected (i.e. chimes when opened).
Occasionally it also chimes when the door has NOT been opened. This is causing the alarm to activate when set (as if someone has broken in).
and apologies this is different behaviour to what I put in the initial post - I'm getting drip fed info from the person who is living at the property at the moment!

So as state of play --
Back door is set to double chime other windows doors single chime. Chime works fine on all set zones.
OCCASIONALLY the keypad/internal etc will sound the double chime as if the backdoor has been opened when it has not.
If the alarm is set, this causes full alarm to activate as if someone has opened the back door. However nothing is indicated in the logs to show this.

External sounder does NOT activate when a zone chime activates, just the keypad and internal sounder.

This behaviour only started when the panel was changed out - could it be the new panel is more sensitive to the resistance values? or coincidence and the door contact is on its way out?

But you stated …to start with ….it goes off when it wasn’t set …just sounds like a failing contact if it chimes for not reason ….plus if it’s entry maybe it’s setting off the alarm and it’s been turned off before it’s gone into full alarm ( pre alarm ) this would set off internal sounders but not external until the pre alarm value has expired…

Yep- I was relaying the info that was provided to me - incorrectly - so Apologies!

I'll double check if its set as entry, and will also replace the contact. Its disabled as a zone at the moment.
