Hi All

I have just bought a Mesa Boogie guitar amp from Germany (good old eBay !). It is a 220-240 volt model but comes with a German style plug - called a Schuko I believe. Can I just cut this off and fit a standard UK plug to the cable, is it 3 core cable ?. The mains lead is hard wired into the amp so I cant just swap it for a UK mains lead. Any help would be welcome. I'm keep to fire up the amp but don't want to mess the lead up if I should wait and buy an adaptor. Cheers !.

replace the plug. If you see unusual colors (that is anything other than brown/blue/green+yellow) then use your multimeter to test the original plug.

on a side note:

1: i wouldn't use travel adaptors for permanent applications, its just another connection and many of them also try to generalise resulting in poor contacts.
2: do not use a schuko (2 pin side clip earth) or french (2 pin female earth) in a generic travel adaptor as they will not make an earth connection (you can get adaptors that do at least for schuko but they are rare).
