bah!

Politeness suggests that if you do that, you put in a note

It is to enable you to edit your own posts if you have changed your mind or made a migtake.

Poiteness sugess that if you do that, you put in a note (see above)

It is so that you can edit your post once it has been submitted.

For example, if you have made a spelling mistake, click
icon_edit.gif
and your original post appears, change the mistake, click submit and it will replace the original post.

Try clicking on it and you'll see what I mean :)

(You beat me JohnD!!)

Thank you Admin. I do understand and have used the edit facility. It's the scissors part of it I don't get, appearing as it does on every posting I make. How do I get rid of them?

You don't. The scissors are part of the picture on the edit button. Why do you want to get rid of them? Are they blocking something?

Sorry Admin, I really am thick- and I said it. So I take it that scissors appear only on the computer of the person who makes the original posting? Now that is clever.

Correct :) You will only see the edit button(scisors) for your own posts. No one else can edit your posts except admin (me) or a moderator.
