I have a marble top washstand which has been scratched. The white scratch looks awful Does anyone have any tips for buffing out scratch mark?

I dont want to give it to a professional as they will charge a fortune.
Any tips much appreciated.
Thanks
Rebecca

Use a small brush and paint the scratch with clear varnish. Then wipe across the width of the scratch with a clean lint free cloth and allow to dry.

if the top is white with grey veins (biano carrara) then this is quite a soft marble (dark greens and black tend to be harder), then this can be polished out. To do the job properly you will need a 110v polisher, fine graded paper 500 upwards and maybe an agent that acts as a polish/buffing polish (will get the name and repost). This is a bit of a delicate job as over zealous use of the polisher can result in a dip, incorrect use of the agent results in a matt finish.
