Morning All,

I am screeding the hallway and I need to place some new screed over the steel gas pipe under the stairs as some of the old screed has failed at the edges. It also creates a solid lip so I can tile upto the stair edge.

Ive attached an image showing the pipe. Its only a couple of inches at the step I woll screed. The plan is to use Ardex NA or similar.

Are there any issues with doing this or anything I need to be aware of?

For background, the pipe is already in what looks like a cement screed and while shallow (less than 10mm from the surface), has survived for 50 years so not looking to change anything.

We used to coat them in Synthaprufe (rubbrised bitumen paint) when putting in the carcase back in the late '60s not sure if it is still recommended practice though.
Denso tape is good too but a nightmare to apply in situ against the floor.
Mostly they only rusted at floor level as water laid around the stand pipe, where it came out of the floor unprotected.

Any current gasfitters who can update us on the regs please?
