Hi all, need to screed a small 1.7m x 1.7m area in an extension which has a new concrete base in it.

Is there anything I need to do to the base to prep it before laying the screed?

It'll only be a 5-10mm screed going down.

Thanks.,

5 - 10mm will be a self levelling compound (SLC).

The conc base should have been allowed to dry.

If the base is very dry then splash some water on it to take up the suction.

Then use the edge of a steel trowel to scrape on a tight skim prep, and immediately pour the remaining SLC to the correct height.

Hi, sorry, I meant a self-leveling compound, not screed!

OK, so do I not need to PVA the floor or anything? The concrete base has been down for about 3 weeks now so should be well dry. Do I just need to sweep it and make sure it is as free from dust as possible?
