I am fitting an external light outside my house. The good news is the light works. The bad news is that one of the screws (wood screw I think) is broken and stuck in its raw plug and snapped off in the wall.

It's not easy to re drill a new hole.
I am not sure how I am suppose to get the broken screw out the wall?
Also these are engineering bricks they are an absolute nightmare.

I dont know what tools you have but I would grind it off with an angle grinder and then mount in a slightly diff position but covering the brick damage

ideally use an SDS drill or if using a conventional combi cordless, then start with a 4mm hole and work up

if you used a concrete screw, I would use a conventional screw and a plug next time

concrete screws are very fussy on size, on hard brick they can jamb and on soft brick they wont grip -on engineering brick you need a 6.5mm drill bit probably

Yes I was thinking it might be best to drill a few hole, I have bought a a new SDS drill recently but will need to get some drill bits for it.
Unless I can use standard drill bits with it?

I'm not sure what type of screw it was maybe a wood screw in a rawplug.
Will have another go tomorrow.

Oof, you've tried the obligatory mole grips? Did you mean to write masonry screw?
I'm not 100% what type of screw it is , just one that came in the packet and I used a rawplug. I have tried mole grips but can't get them to grip.
I am using some cheap pliers now, but its hard to tell if the screw is actually turning.

If you can’t unscrew it with a pair of pincers or pliers, use a screw extractor, they use a reverse thread so you can extract the screw effficiently.

Standard drill bits won't work in a standard SDS drill.

SDS bits have slots in them. To insert them, you normally just push them in. Unlike regular drills, the chuck doesn't have "teeth" to grab the drill bit.

Indeed, hence I said a "standard" SDS drill. My Metabo SDS allows me to "quick" remove the SDS chuck and fit a regular one.

I have only used the regular chuck a few times but if saves me having to turn up on site with a cordless and SDS for a small job.
