Anybody know the screw tread size ?

Measure it. M3 M4 or M5 ect

That's 3mn 4mm or 5mm ect

Buy easy enough assuming the thread pitch is nothing out the ordinary
 
If there's another bolt holding the grille on then take that out and measure it/take it to B&Q for a matching replacement.

Briggs engine?
Usually a 3/16" or 5/32" UNC flange headed screw.......often I find almost anything screwed in!
Any horticultural machine centre will fix you up.

Going to local village store ( blacksmiths ) they are the old fashion type they have almost everything
 
Ridiculous price I'll agree, but this is the sort of thing you need:
A nice coarse thread for fixing into aluminium!
