Hi.

Not sure if this should be here or in windows and glazing. Any particular/preferred sealant for installing a aluminium roof lantern onto a GRP roof. I'm assuming a good quality frame sealant is what is needed?

Cheers.

Polymer. But you should not be relying on just sealant, there should be a cover shroud or flashing over the joint.

Thanks. The sealant is to be used as below in the diagram.

That's a very poor design.

Not only for the lack of a cill or drip, but that appears to be a gap between the frame and the upstand which is a water trap and what is to stop the frame edge puncturing the roof cover from load or thermal movement? Not good.

And there should be a bit of vertical insulation around the perimeter of the upstand (like around a floor slab) to minimize cold bridging.

Yes, run some 25mm of celotex around the opening - upstand and the joists
